Welcome to the world of
ultralight flying. You
are about to experience one of the high points of your life as we
place you in the hands of our instructors namely our CFI (Chief
Flying Instructor) Bruce Braithwaite and Phil Goard. Both have
hundreds of hours flying experience with Bruce at one time flying
for Qantas and Phil who builds aeroplanes here in Cowra.
Our flying school is
registered through Recreational Aviation Australia and
trains in a Jabiru aircraft in the ultralight category.
Please read below for more information.
What is an
Ultralight?
Ultralight
aviation is a category of recreational flying. The aircraft
used are small, and comply with limits on design and
operation so as to allow for fun, economical operation and
minimal regulation.
They are powered aircraft intended for experimental,
educational or recreational purposes mostly designed to
cruise at speeds below 110 knots (200 km/hr) although faster
aircraft are available.
Now for some
facts and figures
How long will it take to get my flying certificate?
It will take you a minimum of 20 hours to get your
certificate. Don't get discouraged if you go over this time
as our instructors will not let you go solo unless they deem
you competent in flying the plane and no student has gone
solo at 20 hours. It's not the hours flown, it's the
competency of the student to control the aircraft in flight.
